David & Lucy Morrison

Meet the Morrisons! David, Lucy and their two daughters currently serve in N'Djamena, Chad at the Acacia Centre working with vulnerable women.

Since 2019, David and Lucy have been serving at the Acacia Centre in N’Djamena, the capital city of Chad. Unfair treatment and often oppression of women is sadly the norm in Chad, for many meaning child marriage, abuse, and for some a life of prostitution. The Acacia Centre, a project run by TEAM, seeks to be a place of hope, transformation and renewed lives in the midst of this bleak situation. David and Lucy will be joining the varied work of the centre as well as reaching out to more women through house visits and crisis intervention.

As the first male on the team, David has begun to explore avenues for crucial prevention work amongst men and children, already building bridges in one of the red-light areas through a weekly kid's club and frequent contact with a small group of men. There is potential for David to form relationships with the husbands of some of the women and David and Lucy don't take lightly the challenge of modelling ‘godly marriage’ and reaching out to couples together.

Lucy, having grown up in the North East of England, met David when she moved to Belfast Bible College in 2012 to study Theology. A few short months into their relationship they began leading an Exodus discipleship team together. Both already having a heart for mission, it quickly became clear to David and Lucy that if it was God’s will for them to be together, it would be for the purpose of serving God wherever He called them.

The specific call to this work has its beginnings when Lucy, as a young teenager felt God speak to her during an event and tell her that she would work with women in prostitution, a call that she has experienced God deepening since. David had a broader, but firm call to the mission field, particularly to do something that would bring ‘hope’. It excites David and Lucy to see the ways that both of their passions unite in this opportunity in Chad. Together, they are seeking to bring the Good News of Christ to those in need of healing and hope.
