The village of Ochadamu is served by Holley Memorial Hospital, established by Mission Africa in 1950. Since then, the hospital has served as a focal point for the local community, with schools, churches and homes situated nearby.

The team will spend time with the community in Ochadamu, visiting local villages, orphanages and schools, as well as helping to run a holiday Bible club. The team will also visit the nearby town of Ogugu, where Mission Africa’s child sponsorship programme is based.

This team will be varied in its activities, but its focus is to build relationships and share God’s love with as many people as possible. Some of the activities the team will be involved in are:

Team Details

An all-age team of minimum 6 and maximum 8 people. Most people speak English, however some use local languages. Useful skills include music, craft, sport, medicine and preaching.

The team will be based at Holley Memorial Hospital in Ochadamu, where there are two separate guesthouses available. They are basic but are quite comfortable and clean, with beds, and basic toilet and shower facilities.

Food will be simple: usually rice, beans, tomato stews, with some potatoes and yam. There will not be a lot of meat, and not a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit. Food is all cooked to western tastes, so won’t be too spicy.

Flights will be arranged to Abuja airport and your team will travel together as a group. A minibus from Mission Africa will be used for the five hour journey from the airport to Ochadamu. One vehicle and driver will remain with the team for the duration.

There will be a team leader appointed by Mission Africa who has experience of working in Africa. There will also be local staff, who will facilitate the team. There may also be some of our long term missionaries working with the team.
